Irina Birger was born in Moscow on the longest day of the year. She decided to become a professional artist at early age. When she was 15 she moved with her parents to Belgrade, former Yugoslavia. Due to the war and the general crisis in Serbia, she immigrated alone to Israel, where she obtained a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts from the Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem.
In 2002 Irina moved to Europe to find a wider audience for her work and entered the Sandberg Institute, which she finished in 2005 with an MA degree in Fine Arts. Irina works with different media such as painting, video, photography and animation based on hand-made drawings, which she usually exhibits as installations. Her works are part of many private and public collections.
