Artist Sami Kallinen was born in 1972 in Pargas, Finland. Sami Kallinen's background involves working in media as a writer and editor in chief for periodicals, newspapers and web publications in Stockholm for five years before his 1999 arrival in Amsterdam where he has focused on his work on video. In Amsterdam he was one of the founders and organisers of OT301 a cultural centre that houses studios for artists and presents a monthly program of concerts, performance and cinema. His work on video has been exhibited and screened all over the world from Russia and China to the US and The Netherlands. He works with video in all its forms from single channel pieces that have been screened in cinemas and broadcast on television to multi channel installations for presentation in exhibition spaces. Institutions like the Dutch public broadcaster VPRO, the De Appel in Amsterdam and Le Centre de Georges Pompidou in Paris has presented his work in the past.
